project description
This project aims to promote Mobility for young people in Dordogne and to develop intercultural discoveries. As a federation of most of the leisure and youth centers in the department, we would like to sensibilise in the interest of the intercultural opening: children, young people, the elected representatives and more generally, the local population.
This project offers you the possibility to talk to young people during information time in high schools, youth information centers; and with children through sociocultural, playful and/or sports activities in connection with your country of origin.
At the beginning, you will have time to observe and adapt to the organisation and the town. Afterwards you will have to plan your own project towards children and youth about your language/country/culture/European awareness, etc.
As coordinating organization, we will organise opportunities to meet other volunteers around Périgueux.
accommodation, food and transport arrangements
You will live in a shared apartment in the center of Périgueux. You will have a single room. Kitchen, toilet and bathroom are common. It is located 10 minutes by walk from the organisation.
We will help to pay bus tickets for your travels around the urban area. During travels related to your project around the department, you will be accompanied by a member of the team with the vehicle of the association.
For food, you will receive 210€/month. The meals taken on days out of the office will be paid by the association (service).
Also, you will have 150€/month for pocket money.

During this project, the everyday life in a new cultural environment and within our association will allow you to develop skills and new knowledge including:
-French lessons and practicing language in your daily life
-Developing and implementing projects in order to understand and experiment project methodology
-Learning to work in a team
-Becoming more independent and learning to undertake initiatives, responsibilities
-Following specific trainings for youth workers (BAFA)
-Living an intercultural experience
-Discovering another culture and making discoveries on yoour own

No experience, training or language skills are required
additional information
You will be on duty 30h/week from Monday to Friday. On special events you will be requested to work on weekends. In this case, you will take off the days the week after.
You will have 2 days off weekly and 2 days off per month, which you can accumulate and set, after dialogue with your mentor.
The project begins in September, at the same time the school year starts in France. It lasts 12 months so you can participate in the annual cycle of the activities of the association and develop a personal project if you wish.
Cómo solicitar ser uno de los voluntariados del Cuerpo Europeo Solidaridad Francia
We will study carefully all application and selected candidates will be invite for Skype interview. The selection of volunteers will take place in the coming weeks.
For the selection of the volunteers we will need:
– ID CARD, Europass CV with picture (made in the last month) with skype name included
– Motivational letter, writing that your sending organisation will be “Building Bridges”. We ask all candidates to send a specific letter of motivation – why they want to volunteer with us rather than just a general EVS one. The volunteer is chosen according to his/her motivation and interest to the project and to the activities. It will be paid special attention to cover letters. Remember to write in the motivation letter that your sending institution is “Asociación Building Bridges”.
