  Fabryka Sztuki w Łodzi (The Art Factory in Łódź) is a cultural institution situated on the premises of the 19th century factory in the Priest’s Mill (Księży Młyn). It was created jointly by Lodz Art Center, Chorea Theatre Association and The City of Lodz Office in 2007. The activities of the Art Factory are mostly focused on theatre, modern art and art education. The Factory regularly organizes educational projects which are now a permanent part of the cultural events calendar in Łódź. It prepares a series of lectures and meetings with artists and leading experts of culture and art, as well as seminars and workshops. It also carries out music projects and concerts.

  Another vital element of Art Factory activities is co-organization of three large international artistic projects organized by Łódź Art Center (Łódź Design Festival), Fundacja Edukacji Wizualnej (Fotofestiwal – International Festival of Photography) and Chorea (RETRO/PER/SPECTIVES: Chorea – Theatre Festival). The newest project of the Factory is Art_Inkubator – a place for creative entrepreneurs in culture. The aim is to support and develop creative industries by offering co-working, meetings with specialists, workshops, think tanks, database with all related articles and publications. It is also a place for cultural promotion, events organization as well as artist’s residencies and studios.

  Our public varies and depends on an event or project target group which may be consisted of artists, young creative entrepreneurs, cultural manager, professionals and amateurs s as well as local community, national and international events’ participants, people with social difficulties and disability.

Tasks

he Volunteer will be very welcome to support our team in organizing actions and their promotion. He/She can assist in our work running Art_Inkubator project as well as other on-going events (festivals, concerts, workshops, meetings, performances etc). Tasks may vary, being relevant to the Volunteer preferences and to the kind of activities. We propose helping in our PR strategy and all that is related (texts writing, contact with media, running our webpage and accounts on social media, some translations etc). Other sort of graphic design as well as reporting can be also proposed. The core task we would like to entrust to the Volunteer is documentation of events organized in Fabryka Sztuki. He/She could work on photo and video making, if he/she feels capable of doing it. It can be also developed into a personal project of the Volunteer (about a subject of his/her choice) as Lodz is a very interesting city and may serve as a source of inspiration. The final effect could be shown to the public in terms of EVS promotion. But if the Volunteer prefers, he/she can invent another personal project which will appeal more to his/her interests. Because of the fact that Fabryka Sztuki is usually a co-organizer and a host of many events, usually run by partners from the same building (Chorea Theater, Lodz Art Center, Fundacja Edukacji Wizualnej), the Volunteer may be asked to become a contact person between those organizations, supporting their actions in Fabryka as well. He/She will aslo have an opportunity to work on a common project with other EVS Volunteers hosted in partner structures. Taking part in our EVS project the Volunteer will work in a group but independently as well. He/She will develop his sense of aesthetic, cultural differences awareness, working conditions in culture on local, national and international level. He/She will improve language and communication skills, sense of responsibility of undertaken actions, get familiar with people (professionals and public, from Poland or abroad).

Criteria

We would like to work with a Volunteer of high interest in our profile of activity. We would wish to host someone open, optimistic, who wants to learn and is eager to help, someone with strong motivation who likes being in the artistic place. Skills in graphic design, photo and video making and editing will be very appreciated, but it is not a necessity.

Procedure

Please send your CV, motivation letter and short information about your sending organization (if you already have one). Another and additional way of self-presentation like an example of your own project (graphical, photo/video), that will be a big plus and very welcome but it is not a necessity. We will focus on the candidates interest in project, his/her motivation and aims. Please note that after the selection of the volunteers we will still have to wait for the project approval from the European Commission.
