Descripción cursos Bruselas y sus objetivos:
During «People for Cities 2017», we will provide the participants with the opportunity to getinsightin the different key elements that shape a city. Together we will explore a wide range of grassroots movements,the concepts of active citizenship and involve them in different participatory processes used in urban policy making. It is our goalto make them reflect upon urban issues, such as air-quality, affordable housing,the welcoming ofrefugees, and how these elements influence all citizens, stakeholders, and as a resultthe city as a whole. By the exchange of projects, concepts and opinions, by gaining the necessary insightthrough interaction with different experts (academical orthrough experience) & visiting good practices, we strive to develop their knowledge, skills and competences on urban matters.
We will also offer practicaltools & workshops so youth and youth workers can initiate and coordinate grassroots movements/citizen’s initiatives. Hereby facilitating them to develop their urban own action plan to make a positive change in their organizations, communities & countries.
In order to achieve this goal we have put forward the following objectives:
-Getting introduced to the concept of grassroots movements, active citizenship and inclusive cities
– Learn about active participation in order to influence policy making
– Gain insight on how existing projects have influenced policy in different cities
– Learn how to approach the specific investigated themes, keeping in mind all their aspects and the different stakeholders
– Develop skills to come up with and implement projects to promote inclusive cities by several workshops and participating in existing initiatives from stakeholders
– Learn how involve people in successful grassroots movements –
Make an action plan for local actions when returning to their own reality and provide a platform to encourage the exchange of their actions
Criterio partucicipantes en los cursos Bruselas
The participants’ criteria:
– Have a good level of English (listening and speaking = highly important)
– People who work with young people on a regular basis (professional or volunteer)
– Motivated to take partin the whole project and all sessions
– Local active creators of citizen’s initiatives and/orinterested in the topics of grassroots movements and decision making
– Willing to share their experiences and local actions with other people
– Willing to make a difference
– Being open to a sustainable life style and being willing to put this into practice during the T.C. (see chapter»nutrition»)
Deberes para hacer en el curso Bruselas
We would like to ask to do some very importantthings :
– Write a motivation letter and send it to us.
– Bring some food from your country for an intercultural breakfast. If you never had anything like this before, justlet your imagination do the job!
– Bring 5 statements/facts related to your culture that you think nobody knows
– Bring a notebook to take notes during the session
– Take an open attitude and willingness to have a good time together, while working intensively.
Also:
-Read in to the subject ofthe training course (links willfollow)
– Investigate atleast 1 example of a grassroots movementin your country/city. (this is very important, so do it well)
We would also really appreciate itif you would post some photos or videos before you leave (on the airport, packing, leaving your organization, …) on social media and using always the following hashtag:

Aspectos financieros de la beca para los cursos Bruselas
Accommodation and lodging covered by 100% by the Erasmus +. The accommodation place was not finalized yet. So, you will receive another info pack later.
Travel expenses partially or entirely covered by Erasmus + (the amount depends of the route to the venue of the training). Total amount for return ticket 275€
YOU CAN ARRIVE AT THE VENUE ON THE 13RD OF AUGUST BETWEEN 15H AND18H. THE DEPARTURES ARE ON THE 21TH OF AUGUST. AFTER THE PARTICIPANT SELECTION WE WILL SEND YOU AN ONLINE TRAVEL FORM.DON´T BOOK YOUR TICKET BEFORE YOU’RE OFFICIALLY SELECTED! WAIT FOR CONFIRMATION FROM THE ORGANIZING PARTNER AND THEN YOUCAN GO AHEAD ANDBUY THE TICKET(S).
The exchange will be implemented in the framework of the EU Erasmus+ Programme, and travel expenses will be reimbursed to all participants according to travel limits set by the Erasmus+ Programme. If you stay within the given budget, your expenses will be covered 100%, and if you spend more, the exceeding amount will be your own contribution to your travel.
We willreimburse 100% ofthe travel cost provided you don ́ exceed the maximum travel cost of 275 euros for the rest oft he participating partners.
The costs are counted from the moment you leave your house to the moment you arrive atthe venue.
In orderto find yourtickets as cheap as possible we recommend you to check the following sites:

You can arrive atthe venue on Saturday,the 12th ofAugust between 15h and 18h. The departures are on Sunday, 20th of August.Our National Agency allows for arrivals and departures to be 7 days before the start and 7 days afte rthe end of the training course.
After the participant selection we will send you an email to confirm your selection.Don ́t book your ticket before you’re officially selected !
Wait for confirmation from theOrganizing Partner and then you can go ahead and buy the ticket(s).
However, keep in mind thatif you decide to do so, in order to visit some friends or visit Belgium you are responsible for your own accommodation and other costs that might occur.
If you decide to travelto France,the Netherlands, etc. before or afterthe course you will have to pay these travel costs yourself. Even if you haven’t exceeded the travel costs mentioned below. Yourreimbursed flight should be to and from Belgium.
– The travelReimbursements will be done by bank transfer afterthe course. In orderto be reimbursed, you need to keep all invoices,tickets and boarding passes and bring them with you (No tickets = no reimbursement).
Accommodation and food during the training course will be fully covered. Insurance is obligatory and should be arranged and covered by each participant and will not be reimbursed. We reccommend «SegurosErasmus» which is the cheapest one.
!! Important: Consult the organisers before buying tickets. Only ticket options approved by the organisers will be reimbursed.
Comida durante los cursos Bruselas
To welcome you in the best possible framework to grow and learn, we will offer you healthy and sustainable meals during the course ofthe training. There will be three meals on the menu, in case of an external activity we will provide you with a lunch pack orthe equivalent value in euros.
We have a private chefto our disposal who will provide you with seasonal and pure dishes. Take into account that as we strive for a better planet, meat will not always be on the menu. In case of any allergies orintolerances, please contact us beforehand. There will always be a vegetarian and vegan alternative in the case meatis on the menu.
Organización
● Taking into account the educational kind of the project, it is forbidden to use alcohol and other drugs during the project activities.
● The project assumes that attendance in all activities for all the participants must be 100%. Failure to attend the activities may result in our inability to reimburse the travel expenses.
Reglas durante los cursos Bruselas
The participants are expected to attend the whole duration of the project and participate in all activities. If an emergency happens and you need to be absent for a short time, the team should be informed in advance. Please use the free time for meeting friends. If you miss any part of the course only without a valid reason (illness or unforeseen grave circumstances) and without informing the team and/or if you cause major problems for the team and or the participant group, the team will have to take measures going from partial refunding of the tuition, travel expenses, board and lodging by the participant up to exclusion from the course in extreme situations.
Please note that during the course the team have the authority to take decisions in a day-to-day life as well as the arrangement of the programme.

HOW TO GET TOTHE COURSE VENUE? ARRIVAL AT BRUSSELS AIRPORT:
How to getto the course venue?
Arrival at BrusselsAirport:
There is a train station underthe airport where you can take a train to Brussels Central. You can buy a ticket online on http://www.belgianrail.be/en/ or at your arrival in the airportfrom the vending machine orthe ticket office.
Aticket costs €8,5. In Brussels Central you change for Metro 5 or 1 direction Erasme/Erasmus. You get off at Comte de Flandre/Graaf van Vlaanderen.
From there you follow the map. Itis a five minute walk.
From Central Station (without metro)it’s a 20 minutes walk.

How to getto the course venue?
Arrival at Charleroi Airport(they call it Brussels-South butis still an hour away !):
There is a shuttle bus which brings you to Brussels Midi/South station.
In Brussels Midi (= South in French) you change to metro 6 direction of Elizabeth.
Aticketis €2.1. From there you follow the map. Itis a 5 min walk.

The training course will take place in Brussels. The weather conditions for this area are moderate for this time of a year. The temperature in August vary from +18 to +30. It can be very sunny but also rainy, so be prepared for both. Sunglasses and rain jackets should be items you shouldn’t forget 😉
The Venue
The training venue is the Waterman. This centre is run by a Belgian youth organizations called JES (Youth and the City). We will provide for your stay, 3 meals a day, fruit and snacks. The only cost for you will be 40 euro for the external workshops, lectures and bike hire. This amount will be deducted from your final reimbursement.
There is wifi At the venue. The participants will be accommodated in rooms for 3-5 people. There are shared bath rooms in each room. Bed linens are provided by the hostel but you should bring your own toothpaste, shower gel, shampoo and towels.

Visa and travel documents
All participants are from EUcountries so there is no need for a visa or passport.
Make sure that you bring youridentity card and in case you possess it, a European insurance card.
Practical Hints
Money The currency of Belgium is EURO. Most often exchange offices do not charge any fees for their service. Itis betterto exchange money in banks as they have betterrates than exchange offices at airports or railway stations. Never exchange the money from people on the street!
Electricity
The voltage forthe Belgianelectricity system is 220 V.
The plugs have 2 round contacts.

Building Bridges members and/or long term unemployed (proved by scanned document) will have preference to this volunteer service.
You should complete registration in 2 steps:
1. Please send your application form, CV , application form and motivation letter to asociacionbb@gmail.com with subject «TC Belgium Urban .YOURNAME.YOUR SURNAME. Spain.Building Bridges«. Remember to write in the motivation letter that your sending institution is “Asociación Building Bridges”. All documents written in English.
Selected participants will receive the detailed infosheet after the selection process.
2. Pay the registration fee (40€) by Paypal or bank transfer to :Asociación Building Bridges, CIF G85466886. This registration fee includes one year membership to our National and International activities.
* It is compulsory to send application form, CV and motivation letter and pay the registration fee at the same time in order to be within the pre-selection process.
If you are not selected by the sending or hosting organisation, we will reimburse the fee. Please see conditions of Erasmus+ grants
