Hosting organisation

Is a non-profit, apolitical, active since 1985. It brings together and coordinates the experience of many retired executives and volunteers from a wide range of environments (companies, financial institutions, government agencies, military, …) to put their experience to others. Our work is mainly oriented towards helping small and medium enterprises, to social organizations, to young independent and especially to youth through programs such as the European Voluntary Service.

We are active in the EVS program since 1997, during which we have developed, with the help of the services of the European Commission, a pilot project to send 20 young Belgian and French to England and Ireland. Thereafter, from 2000, we joined the sending and receiving programmes with bilateral projects managed by the Bureau International de la Jeunesse (National Agency). We are presently accredited by the European Commission and the Ministry of the French Community (Bureau International de la Jeunesse) as sending and coordinating organization for hosting projects (2013-BEFR- 3).

Is an association that currently includes thirty retired members from various disciplines whose general mission is to put their skills and experience to young people, SMEs , associations and institutions with a social purpose and

Our work can provide people, businesses and private and public institutions, both in Belgium and abroad, assistance and guidance in the administrative, commercial and industrial areas by providing a team of volunteers and experienced consultants.

Within our organization a team of 5 members is in charge of EVS either in a coordination program of hosting projects or in a sending program of young volunteers.

The purpose of this participation is to help young people acquiring through EVS, a relative experience of autonomy, making contact with reality on the ground after schooling, better proficiency of a foreign language and a better understanding of their capabilities and thus provide them a valuable asset for their future work and family life.

We are willing to cooperate with any foreign organization active in EVS.

Our members perform their duties in a manner entirely voluntary.

Profile of volunteeers

the EVS is an opportunity to open to a foreign culture (country and population). We do not have a predefined profile for sending young people abroad.

We have nearly 15 years of experience in the YIA program (Action 2) and candidates come from all social environments and all types of young people (especially students of higher education and unemployed youth). Recruitment is based on four main areas:

– Word of mouth via the former volunteers,

– The information provided on our website (which soon will be modernized)

– Candidates sent by the BIJ

– Briefings organized at certain times

We have relationships with foreign host and sending organizations to which we periodically send a list of EVS vacancies for which we are coordinating Org.

Selecting and sending young volunteers is generally carried out in four stages and each volunteer is hosted by a member of our EVS team in order to:

– Get to know the candidates, explain in detail what is the EVS and give them an overview of the procedure and time research project and submitting the application (about 2 Hr)

– Discuss with them of each of the selected projects and advise on the presentation of the CV and letter of motivation (2 Hr)

– review the volunteer as soon as this (her) project is accepted by a host Org and if possible, to sign the document "Activity Agreement" (1 Hr)

– See them before their departure and arrange their travel (train or plane), have them sign the reserved part of the Cigna insurance and give them a folder containing all relevant informations for the EVS project (2 Hr).

In general, in the first instance, contact with the hosting Org is taken by BSC Namur.

It is always advisable that candidates make personal contact with the responsible one of the Hosting Org to get a response to some personal issues, and anyway if possible, the volunteers have to arrange their departure in coordination with the host Org.

Description of the project

THE PARK

Domaine de Mozet includes a castle – farm surrounded by 10 acres of woods, meadows and lawns . Every corner of the park is allocated to specific activities / entertainment area that offers its customers. There are among others an orchard, a medieval mini -garden , a mini- park animals, an apiary , a flowery meadow , a pond , a wasteland, fire corners, etc …

The purpose of this project is to provide opportunities and resources for young volunteers to get involved and participate in the improvement of their planet. To do this, on the one hand , they will discover teaching methods practiced at the Domaine and secondly they can bring their own vision and inform leaders about practices in their country. Awareness tools are in place and include animations, training in the nature and citizenship.

The Park is an integral part of this project because it is the place of experimentation and actual practice the taught methods. Eventually, it should be a showcase of sustainable development. It has an area of about eleven hectares. The project can accommodate a young EVS wishing to inform and train the environmental policy of the institution and practice of work -related rural heritage.

The Park project is complementary to the project animation; in that it contributes to the maintenance and management of the areas required for the deployment of “ecocivic” activities.

The volunteer animation should ideally be eager to get involved in the various activities of an accomodation centre for youth groups and if possible have a basic knowledge of French.

The volunteer Park should be prepared to find solutions resourceful , eager to speak French , eager to share his experience and to benefit the association of skills, like finding solutions , be creative , loving work alone, wishing to meet children, youth , adults, …

Generally , volunteers must love the outdoor life , working in the woods in all seasons.

One volunteer will participate in our activities "green classes" that is to say, Nature animations,  Middle Ages or prehistory.

Are proposed in our animations Nature, cooking wild plants, sensory ride ( ride with various activities awakening the five senses ), mushrooms walks depending on the season, Land art (creation, artistic achievement with elements found in the natural environment ), animal tracks, cabin, green music, …

The volunteer Park, in addition to his support for certain activities, participate in the following activities:

– Monitoring the health of trees and pruning,

– Maintenance of a mini-farm,

– Cleaning once a year birdhouses and bird inventories have laid,

– A medieval garden care

– Maintenance of an educational pond

– Annual maintenance of hives and collecting honey ,

– Monitoring of orchard maintenance instructional path and a friendly space .

In general , this project aims to:

• promote active citizenship in general and the European citizenship in particular;

• develop solidarity and promote tolerance among young people,

• foster mutual understanding between young people in different countries;

• promote European cooperation in the youth field ;

In particular, volunteers will :

– Experience of integration in a team pursuing the same goal ;

– Meet young people from other European and American countries in pedagogy where accommodation is provided ;

– Take new initiatives, bring different ideas, present their views, promote their culture.

At the end of the project, volunteers will pass on their experience to their local community. They will also encourage other young people to volunteer and join the EVS program.

The final outcomes are:
