SVE sobre medioambiente en Suecia

Project

It is a divided project between an environmental station and a local youth centre. Both are municipal organisation in Emmaboda Kommun, Sweden. You are going to find many different interesting activities. First of all, the hosting organization is an environmental station where people can get education in how to recycle their waste products. It is environmentally certified in accordance with ISO 14001 and they have existed since 1992 when it became possible to handle waste disposal of bulky refuse with the help of unemployed people. The inhabitants of Emmaboda community can leave in the organization their bulky refuse, such as furniture, newspapers, plastic articles, toxic substances, used electronic equipments etc.

Eventually the organization was expanded to include D/A and conferences. This generated great interest from other parts of Sweden and they have had the pleasure of receiving many study visits by people interested in their knowledge on environmental action, re-cycling and coaching of people in need of re-entering the work force. They have worked with EVS as a tool for youth and organizations to increase European awareness. By informing youth, organizations and municipalities about the Youth in Action program they hope they can inspire curiosity for Europe.

The volunteer will live in an apartment alone, the apartment has a kitchen, a badroom, a bathroom and all the cooking material. The volunteer will be given a monthly allowance for food and personal necessities. The volunteer can borrow a bike to get to and from the project, and will be given a monthly card for public transport if necessary.

The volunteer can participate in various activities. He/she will help the staff to place objects in the second hand market and he/she will participate at the youth center in the activities with the kids. He/she can propose initiatives according to his/her abilities, for example if he can play an instrument in the center there is a classroom.

The volunteer has to be a friendly and loyal person since he/she will be working close to the other volunteers. The organization wants the volunteer to be able to take initiative, be creative and not afraid to take the first step in making contact with other people. They also want the volunteer to have a basic knowledge in communication both oral and in writing in English language.

We will study carefully all application and selected candidates will be invite for Skype interview. The selection of volunteers will take place in the coming weeks.

For the selection of the volunteers we will need:

– Europass CV with picture (made in the last month) with skype name included

– Motivational letter, writing that your sending organisation will be “Building Bridges”. We ask all candidates to send a specific letter of motivation – why they want to volunteer with us rather than just a general EVS one. The volunteer is chosen according to his/her motivation and interest to the project and to the activities. It will be paid special attention to cover letters.

Remember to write in the motivation letter that your sending institution is “Asociación Building Bridges”.
